I seem to have a thing for photographing trees. Especially in the wintertime.

Several shots on this roll of Neopan 400 were affected by light leaks (the film had now wound tightly onto the take-up spool, and so some light got in when I opened the camera and removed the film. As a result I’ve had to crop some of the shots (including the one of some market stalls below). Not ideal, but at least they’re not completely written off – although one or two of them still show the leaks a bit even after cropping.

Perhaps it’s these two, sat atop Over Owler Tor and gazing out at who knows what (well, it’s probably the view up the Hope Valley).

Although not my original intention, I like the way that this shot implies that the firing of the camera has shattered the glass.

I’m going through a bit of an arty-farty image border phase at present. Not sure whether it’s a good idea or not, but it does seem to make photos look better in many cases.

Another one of my still life attempts from the weekend. Although shot on Portra 400, I converted this to black and white as it looked much better (the melon was very pale, with barely any colour to it anyway).

A photo competition I’m taking part in has “Still-Life” at the theme for February. It’s not a form that I’ve much of an affinity for if I’m honest, even though some of my photos undoubtedly fall under the banner by accident. Whatever the case, I’ve found it difficult to drum up much enthusiasm, but nonetheless shot a roll of expired Portra 400 I had lying around. Most of the shots are pretty uninspiring, although there are maybe four or five that are worth a second glance (though probably not much more). The photo below was my favourite, and the one I submitted.
